Cascade Mountain

The Cascade Mountain resort is just about an hour’s drive from Wisconsin and has one of the most breathtaking views there is. It is a suitable ski resort whether you are just starting out, an intermediate or even an expert skier. In fact, one of its longest trails is a beginner cruiser trail that goes through waterfalls, forest growth and an overall scenic terrain which is great. The entire resort boasts of a 160 acre of skiable land, with 1270 feet of top elevation not to mention a vertical drop of about 400 feet.

Alpine Valley

The alpine valley resort is built to ensure you spend less time in line waiting and more time skiing. At this resort, you will find advanced airlift systems not to mention over 20 runs on 20 acres of skiable land plus a vertical drop of 388 feet. The slopes are 3,000 feet long making them a perfect fit for advanced as well as beginner skiers looking to have a great time. The resort also offers warm rooms that feature a sitting area, separate living rooms and pull out couches to mention just a few. You can also experience the golf course or the indoor pool and even if you have your kids with you, the resort is built to be kid-friendly for your own convenience.

Hours: Weekdays 8 am to Dusk, weekends 7 am to dusk

Granite Peak

If you are looking for a fun packed resort for you and the rest of your family, making a stop by the Granite Park resort is a solid choice. This resort is about 2 hours away from Wisconsin and comes with a variety of incredible features including rentals, lessons and even a chalet for relaxing. The resort has over 70 runs that also include self-learning areas that are great for beginners.

With a 700 inch vertical drop, this resort is by far the highest and most fun ski mountains you will find near Wisconsin. Simply put, there is so much to love about the Granite Peak resort especially for families that want to have fun during winter while skiing.

Christmas Mountain (Wisconsin Dells)

With 16 runs and a variety of trails to go with it, The Christmas Mountain (Wisconsin Dells) offers a variety of fun activities for skiers. These include activities such as group skiing, snowshoeing; snow tuning and a comprehensive trail map to get you started the right way. You can even rent a go pro to record your adventure or simply take up skiing lessons that give you the right skills to show off while you are out there in the hills.

Hours: Weekdays from 11 am to 9 pm and on weekends from Sundays to Sunday from 8 am

Grand Geneva

This here is a lake spa and resort making it the ultimate location for those that live close by. It has over 30 acres of skiable land, a 200-foot vertical drop, and up to 18 runs. If you are extra ambitious, you will love this resort as it offers the opportunity to engage in other activities such as shopping, horseback riding, and an adventure center. Furthermore, in the first week of December, Grand Geneva Resort plans to give away a free lift ticket to their best supporters.

Christie Mountain (Bruce)

The trail offered by Christie Mountain resort is a go for most skiers who love skiing while dogging trees and obstacles. This resort is home of the blue hills beast and boasts of the best variety of trails for all level of skiers. The rental shop on the resort has a variety of equipment as well including Telemark skis and twin skis, snowboard and alpine skis to mention only a few. The longest run is about 4,000 meters long and the vertical drop sits at 350 Meters With 30 trails this resort works well for those looking for a night skiing location with a terrific terrain built for any type of skier.

Little Switzerland (Slinger)

It will take you about 52 minutes to drive from Wisconsin to Little Switzerland (Slinger). It is one of the oldest skiing resorts on our list with an expected 45 inches of snowfall every year. It also comes with 18 runs a top elevation of 1,269 feet and a vertical drop of 200 feet. Granted it’s not one of the biggest ski resorts you will find out there but with about 50 skiable acres, you can still make the most of it whether you are s beginner or an expert skier.

Cost: Session pass at $339 for individual and $999 for family
Hours: Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm

Nordic Mountain

From snowboarding to skiing and even mountain biking, the Nordic Mountain resort is the fun place that most families in Central Wisconsin love to visit. It is only an hour’s drive and serves as the perfect skiing resort for beginners. Not only is it affordable, but it also offers a variety of season pass packages with and on-site dining service that is top quality. With a skiable vertical of 264 feet and a total of 60 skiable acres not to mention a peak elevation of 1,137 feet, this skiing resort presents one of the best options for families in Wisconsin.

Devil’s Head Resort

If you need a skiing resort that has the reputation for being the best for year round vacation in the Midwest, then settle for nothing less than Devil’s Head Resort. Here you will find a full-service ski resort that lets you ski down one of the highest mountains in Wisconsin. It comes with a 500-foot vertical drop, with 30 ski trails and skiable areas of 300 acres which is nothing to sneeze at. The resort itself is nestled in the Baraboo Bluffs of South Central Wisconsin giving it a perfect skiing area that both beginners and experts will appreciate.
